Achiltibuie Highland Reeds takes its name from the village
of Achiltibuie situated on the shores of Lochbroom on the
North West Coast of Scotland. A stunningly beautiful part
of the world.

Established by Pipe Major Bruce Hitchings, MBE, BEM
Achiltibuie Highland Reeds were developed from ideas he
formulated in over 35 years of bagpipe playing.  His main
focus was to produce the ultimate drone reed.  This
involved a lengthy period of Reseach and Development in
consultation with Heriot-Watt University and DERA
( Defence Evaluation and Research Agency )  to utilize
their Materials and Engineering expertise.
